#11 GUCCI MANE

3 03 2010

The state of rap music is going under like the Titanic. We’ve long gone away from talented rhyming skills into autotuned up Rappers singing and chanting on every track…..THEN ALONG CAME GUCCI MANE!

As I write this I started to get happy that I was going to finally post something on my Nemesis Gucci, until I realized that I actually don’t have a problem personally with the Gentleman. I mean…He’s done nothing wrong in selling his music. He’s Never said anything to me personally…AND THEN IT DAWNED ON ME………..GUCCI’S JUST PART OF THE PROBLEM!!!!

THIS BIGGER PROBLEM I SEE IS IN ALL OF THE THE DUMB IGNORANT BASTARDS THAT ARE DRINKING THE GUCCI MANE KOOL-AID…FOR EXAMPLE:

  • RECORD EXECUTIVES who would put this bullshit out.
  • PROGRAM DIRECTORS in radio and television.
  • MAGAZINES that say that he’s “RAPS NEXT BIG SUPERSTAR”
  • YOUNG AMERICA who don’t know the difference between good and bad Music
  • FOLLOWERS who will just take anything that is spoon fed to them.

These are the TOP 10 THOUGHTS that pop in my head when I hear GUCCI MANE Music..

  1. DOES HE KNOW THAT RAP MUSIC NEEDS TO RHYME AT SOME POINT?
  2. DID HE JUST SAY “NEMONADE”?
  3. WHY DOES THIS BUMPKIN STILL WEAR ALL THAT FAKE JEWELRY?
  4. MY SON BETTER GO TO COLLEGE!!!!
  5. I BET GUCCI HAS PROBLEMS READING.
  6. HIS LIPS LOOK LIKE TWO BURNT PORK SAUSAGE LINKS.
  7. DIDN’T I HEAR THAT RHYME ON SESAME STREET???
  8. “DANCE NIGGA DANCE”
  9. IS THAT A POT BELLY UNDER A MISKEEN SHIRT? (WHO STILL WEARS MISKEEN?)
  10. HE’D BE A GREAT SPOKESPERSON FOR SLAVERY

The problem I have with his music is that I feel that IT’S EVERYTHING THAT RAP MUSIC FOUGHT AGAINST. My generation (the Hip-Hop Generation) went from The Hood to Good and I think when you have DUMBED DOWN lyrics and only rely on Beats and Chants then you are being a “Necrophiliac of the Rap Game” (for those that have to google Necrophiliac IT MEANS THAT HE’S FUCKING SOMETHING THAT’S ALREADY DEAD!

THERE’S A LOT OF THINGS I’M COOL WITH…BUT GUCCI MANE…IMCOOLONTHAT!!

…oh yeah.. Wocka Flocka, OJ The Juiceman and definitely Plies too.

OUTTAKES:

HE’D BE A GREAT ACTOR IN A SLAVERY MOVIE

HE LOOKS LIKE A RUNAWAY SLAVE

HE’S AN INDICATION THAT SLAVERY IS GOING TO MAKE STRONG  RETURN

“GUCCI MANE” SHOULD BE RENAMED “SLAVEY MANE”

You are so right. I grew up with real hip hop and the stuff that gets airplay these days disturbs me.

MeSBee

This is your best work to date, I’m rollin at work! “Did he just say ‘Nemonade?'”
HAHAHA!! “My son better go to college.” HYSTERICAL!
And I think “necrophiliac of the rap game” sums up the whole situation perfectly. The truth is he’s just tryin to make a dollar & you can’t knock him for that! You’re right – but for all of the enablers (records execs, radio etc) that allow crap like this to thrive – junk like this would NEVER be in rotation.
Nice work.

MeSBee is right, he just after that paper & the sad part is he’s gettin it.
some ppl are goin to have a hard time understanding the “Necrophiliac of the Rap Game” part but that is absolute genius!!!!
ps- i do feel bad for the fella because i don’t think he knows how to read.

I don’t have an issue with Gucci. I got da album and jam it daily! Everybody can’t be Nas Jay-z Common etc. There are some rappers that just make good music and represent there region. If you hate Gucci then you hate where he from and who he represents. If you don’t like then don’t listen. People wasn’t complaining when west coast had it on lock or east coast.

5 03 2010
Ashley

This comment is full of overstatements! Just because you don’t like someone’s music doesn’t mean you don’t like where they’re from. All that Gucci must be killing your brain cells.

3 03 2010
Glenn Ford

I don’t/can’t listen to today’s hip hop! I’ve seen some of this fools video’s and it makes me want to do like Marvin…”Makes me want to holla and throw up both my hands!”.

3 03 2010
MsTory

Lol @ burnt pork sausage links & spokesperson for slavery.., classic. But You made some great points. Rap isn’t rap anymore. All they do is make good beats, but the lyrics – I cant relate to them.

3 03 2010
mrsclomax

Chuuuuch! I too am part of the Hip Hop Generation and I am THREW with Gucci, Plies, Lil Lame…all of ’em! These young bucks have no idea how hip hop came about nor WHY it sparked a movement if they did – they wouldn’t be rapping about “Nemonade”…. freakin CLOWNS!

I’m cool on that too Nile!

3 03 2010
Devvy

ROTFLMAO @ burnt sausage links!! Gucci better learn how to sing to his cell mate, otherwise he’ll be getting f*cked like the rest of us who have to listen to his hot garbage!! I’m soooo cool on that…Two thumbs up Nile!!

@SDittle

This is the truest shit!!!! YOUNG AMERICA who don’t know the difference between good and bad Music.

FOLLOWERS who will just take anything that is spoon fed to them.

I agree with everything you said, funny but true!!!

3 03 2010
Devvy

@Adrian Henderson…bad music is bad music…PERIOD. who cares where he’s from and the bottom line is that he represents the non-talented bunch of “idontknowmyABC’s rappers” so again…WE’RE ALL COOL ON THIS!! 🙂

3 03 2010
Melissa

I can’t front, the music to “I’m wasted” is cool…however, I am not a fan of him or any of the other rappers you mentioned. I have taught my sons to appreciate Talib, Mos, Cube and Pac…these pseudo rappers can get the GAS FACE!!!!

P. Jones

I love what you wrote. I know many people that feel the same way including myself. I must say that I am very disappointed with the kind of rap music being played on the radio and accepted by our culture. I’m embarassed for them and the music. Everyone wants to rap about how many girls they have and how much money they’re making. I never hear intellectual lyrics from these new artists. I can go on and on about this topic, but I’ll stop. Your highlights above was on point.

I am with you on this one Nile. It’s not just Gucci either. I remember when Rap was actually Rap. Now it’s more Hip Hop or some dance bullshit they all be putting out to the public. A lot of great beats wasted on talentless wannabe rappers. I miss the days of the wu-Tang Clan, Ruff ryders, When the Roc was the Roc and the real M.O.B.B….What happened? I just listen to my older Rap music all the time, anything else just frustrates me.

3 03 2010

i literally laughed out loud. AMAZING. LLOOLLL

Nile, I just asked what a Wacka Flocka Flame was and my 24 y/o cousin told me that he’s a hood story teller…and I’m pasting: “Yea he’s def n a different genre of rap, but it is still rap. He wldnt b clasaified as a lyrical hip hop artist like jay-z, nas, etc… Hes more so an underground rapper… He made it to where he is now so u cant knock em…” Love stopped me from having heart attacks & debating this on FB, but I’m telling you, young kids think these dudes are the truth, and its just sad! But saying he’s the spoesperson for slavery is just funny! LMAO!

3 03 2010
Machelle

All I can say is AMEN! Glad u broke it down. I hear his music but don’t know sh*t about him because he does not interest me- not lyrically, not talent wise.I’m only familiar with him because of songs he’s featured on, but even then, I tune him out.

This is a reality check as to where this new generation of hip hop is going. SO SAD!!!

3 03 2010
Kayla

I could have sworn the whole “Bling Bling’ period was over but looking at the ‘Lemonade” video, Gucci obviously missed the memo. I lived in Dallas 2007-2009 and this is the type of music I had to listen to daily. On the radio, in the clubs. Couldn’t escape it. They say history repeats itself, the rappers today are just reliving the “shucking and jiving” period from long ago. Just like the “chicken noodle soup” dance looked like it came straight from the cotton fields. These artist are so quick to just make a buck so they put this hot garbage over a decent beat and ‘WE’ fall for it. So the blame isn’t placed on solely the “artist”, you gotta blame the dumb dumbs who buy their records and help them go platinum.

BTW @Adrian Henderson support for ones region is one thing but there is a point in time when you have to say ‘ENOUGH’. Gucci’s cool to dance to, but where’s the substance? After awhile, you lose brain cells from that crap. I mean listening to ‘Lemonade’ what do we learn? That Gucci likes “yellow broads”? I am from the west coast (L.A to be exact) and yes we do complain and not listen when Snoop, Cube, Mack 10 and other artist put out wack songs with no substance. Especially if people still rapping about bangin'(i.e The Game). That shit’s played. But Gucci, Plies, Waka Flocka, OJ da Juiceman, Chalie Boy, I’m Cool On THAT!

5 03 2010

BRAVO & HILARIOUS!!! I couldn’t agree more…I cannot listen to today’s hip hop. My niece (she’s 18 yrs old) and I were at Wing Stop in Oakland…they had the nerve to blast Gucci Mane throughout the store. My niece was like “this is my cut”…I just rolled my eyes. Then I went to the cashier and politely asked him to either turn down the music or change the station (since it was Sunday afternoon and older church goers were there as well). Those mofos changed it to Plies. We left!!!

3 03 2010
Lungilem

Wow I don’t like Rhirhi for similar reasons which is why I don’t usually mention nor diss her I just ignore, feign non-existence. cause otherwise she just got more undeserved attention when she was just tryin to make money plus I respect the fact that im not her target market. that’s probably why i didn’t know this Gucci mane cause I stopped letting the media dictate to me. if I have bad taste in music so be it they’re not doing any better.

LMAO @ two burnt pork sausage links! I didn’t even know what he looked like until this magazine cover you posted, but that is a very accurate description. I’m not familiar with his music either, but that’s because I choose to save my ears from such buffoonery.

AMEN! I am so SICK and tired of seeing THESE people on the cover of magazines that are supposed to represent something that I would want to read about; Hip-Hop. NO~ I don’t know a single Gucci Mane song, and I’m still not convinced that the bullsh** he has compiled in the studio can be considered as songs, but I do know his “work” consists of major coonage and reeks of the bullsh** formula that the powers-that-be are coaxing teenie-boppers who are WEIRD and crazy anyway into THINKING they like. NO~ His rap name IS NOT tight. As a matter of fact, it’s stupid, country, and just plain WHACK! when I hear his rap name I think of a jive turkey in a knock-off sweatsuit from the Slauson with the big ass GUCCI on the front. This has to stop! I can’t keep having grown people look at me like I’m crazy ‘cuz I’m still bumpin’ Leaders Of The New School. Bring Hip-Hop back. East Coast Rappers, West Coast Rappers I BLAME YOU TOO!!! STAND UP and SQUASH these wierdly-named, funny lookin’, fake-gangsta-wannabe over-iced actors!

@Kayla @Dewy At the end of the day rappers rap to sell music and make money. Most rappers are gonna rap about what they live and what they see and do. Its been like that since the beginning of hip hop. I can see why people are annoyed by Gucci but its no different when Dre Snoop and Cube had everybody wanting to wear dickey suits and drive 64’s or Wu Tang had people wearing hoodies and timberlands. I’m just looking at it from an outside point of view and rappers are about the money. Can’t knock a mans hustle.

3 03 2010
Mr. Williams

Okay Nile(s) – How can you deny the lyrical miracle “…Goo-cheh won-na sex ya – tell meh iz ya in-tres-sted??” The man is way before his time!!! lmaooo

But for real – he sucks wet farts…period. I’ll take it a step further and say that people have become so dumbed-down in general when it comes to entertainment that every lame-brained “Reality Show” and half-baked rapper is an instant e-legend. Not to mention the legion of “Twitter-lebrities” that think their every thought of the day is breaking news.

@ Adrian Henderson – Outkast – Youngbloods – Ludacris…same region but don’t suck. And plenty of people from Cali & NY SUCKED during the time the REGION was holding it down.

Can we agree there IS such a thing as WACK RAPPERS???!!!

P.S. SAVING HIP HOP —> CASSIDY MIXTAPE ” APPLY PRESSURE” HIP…HOP!!!!

3 03 2010
Janae

All right y’all, I’m torn on this issue. First of all I rep the South and I mean HARD. I’m a product of Three Six, Playa Fly, UGK, 8-Ball and MJG…I could go on. I am hip-hop to the heart and love good music regardless of origin, region, or genre. I just think everybody has a preference and love it or hate it, you still take notice. The whole “hip hop is dead” aspect is no different than the generations before us thinking rap or hip-hop music altogether was a waste of time and energy and their music was so much better. Seriously, though why put Gucci Mane’s face on the issue when it is just as relevant to Lil Wayne and the rest of that set. There are a whole lot more (cough, cough) artists and enablers that perpetuate the problem.

3 03 2010
Kayla

@Adrian, wearing Dickies and rolling in ’64’s came straight from the “gangsta’s”. Snoop and Cube just showed it in their videos and everybody copied. Which means rappers, actors and the media dictate to the rest of the world what’s hot. Gucci obviously has a big influence otherwise there wouldn’t be a blog post dedicated to him. Be about your money but use your celebrity for good. Not to continue to push us farther and farther to the back of the bus.Rap is poetry. Do you think Gucci would get a standing O if he was on Def Poetry Jam? Seriously doubt it! Point Blank, Gucci sucks! Period. My opinion but seems to me that it’s quickly turning into a fact.

3 03 2010
Keisha

Teenagers dictate the music industry trends and unfortunately right now some of them like dumbed down, unoriginal, mind numbing bullshit. It’s not enough to boycott the Gucci Mane, Plies, Wocka Flocka of the music industry we must also support good music like Maxwell, Jill Scott, Talib Kweli, etc.. Keep the blogs coming Nile.

MAN THIS IS THE BIZNESS. Props Nile & agree. I’m tired of hearing people say. Gucci Mann is dope. His beats are bangin. Fuck that shit. His music is not dope. ANd I cannot take pride in him. And Slavery does spring to mind when I see him & hear him. And his videos bring nothing to the creativity table.

i just need “nemonade” NOT to be playing on a loop in my head for the rest of the day or people will be subjected to my random outbursts of laughter! Nile your post – not just this one – are fricken brilliant. I wish I could see you on TV like those sportscaster dudes live Vlogging or something… your p.o.v. on G.B.**** is relevant and ridiculously hilariously on point! I don’t ever want to be a part of taking food off a mans table or out of his children’s mouths.. but at some point after you do you little dance to get in the game…. flip the script! well that is if you have a script to flip… wait.. maybe this truely IS what he’s workin’ with. ***G.B. = Gucci Boy because a grown ass Gucci “Man” would be more responsible when granted golden access into the World of Hip Hop. Not hatin’ Just Sayin.

Niles thank you for breaking it down. I couldn’t agree with you more. Here is my problem w/rap 2day. Folks have taken out the artistry in RAP, everyone wants to just freestyle, 16 bars x 3 verses x 12 tracks x 3-4 albums & they expect it to result quality. And we wonder why it doesn’t rhyme? The fool didn’t take his time!

Okay, I thought I was alone….hearing Gucci Mane bump and everyone running to the dancefloor like, “this is my ish!” and I’m sitting there thinking, “WTF”
Also, I haven’t listened to his music to find out, but I’m curious as to how he came up with the name “Gucci Mane” I know for damn sure that they are not endorsing his ass! Someone enlighten me! Then I see him, and although I’m not one to judge on looks (I’m lying, and so is everyone else if they say they don’t judge by looks) but damn! Nile, you said it! He is a walking, rapping stereotype!!!

Also, confused on this….so at one of the awards shows…he and the other one….Soulja Boy ( who I just realized named himself Soulja Boy Tell Em….and I’m like, “tell them what?”) well they performed a whole song on “Gucci Bandanas” and everyone jumped up and was dancing to this ish. I’m thinking, how the hell can you come up with a whole song on a gucci bandana until I tried to listen to the words and hell, there weren’t any!!

I’m saying all of this to day….Hip hop, what happened? We gotta do better!

3 03 2010
Jay

All of this stuff coming out from guys like this sound the same. You can’t listen to any of this stuff with your kid in the car, even the “clean” versions, it’s too easy to fill in the blanks. But, moreso there is no substance, it’s “empty” noise with no soul. It’s souless, hopeless and worthless. It would be an insult to call it music. Whatever happened to that Lupe kid?

3 03 2010
Elizabeth

The crazy thing is people is going to read this and be mad at u, but that’s if they read this lol but then they’re going to turn around and watch wild’n out and not know u help make it possible, but I remembered the 1st time I heard Gucci mane song I was like wtf is that? and my little sister was just to rapping away if that’s what u want to call it, I asked her like u realize those aren’t words right?, that’s why now a days when I buy music it’s usually throwback.

3 03 2010
black bandit

Down south rappers are pop artist…waka flaka called real rap “dictionary rap”….how dumb is that? Let’s see ludacris is from ATL but hmm he raps like a ny rapper…young jezzy doesn’t rap like a coon either hmm neither does TI…but souja boy gets away with doing stupid songs and dumb people love it but when someone like lupe raps people just ignore it sayin he needs to dumb it down…..hip hop is dead due to stupid fans and stupid rappers

3 03 2010
Kayleidogyn

I just finished saying (& I know we’re late in the UK… tho I’m thankful this time) that he even SOUNDS ugly as fugg!!! & let’s be honest, if my 11yo, musically-challenged child can “rap” along, you should be ashamed!

LMFAO at Nemonade. But truthfully At least Gucci is entertaining unlike 92% of East Coast rappers. and in the end all you want is entertainment in rap music because the days of elevation are deader than Pimp C.

Thanks for writing this, I had no idea who Gucci Man was so I You Tubed him… I’m glad I didn’t know who he was. HOWEVER, the imagery does not go away. Thanks Gucci man for NOT representing the Gucci name!!

I’m not too keen on this Gucci Mane fella but I’ve heard him as a featured artist on other artists’ songs (i.e. Mario) & let me just say that I cringe and often turn the song when his part comes up & turn back when I think his part’s over. Please don’t bring slavery back…may be we should do ourselves justice & lynch him 1st b4 they start coming after us lolol!

SOO THATS WHAT RAP HAS COME TO NOW?? i mean if i tried to clown Pac or even Big you could say something, those where some talented individuals, BUT THIS NIGGA IS A CLOWN!!! i respect his hustle, and im not hating on him by far, kus im good wit mine, but im just saying, it highkey feels like a slap in the face to all the extremely talented people that have actually made it. I’m pretty sure Jay Z isnt worried about him at all, but it just feels like a lame attempt at greatness for GUCCI to even be called “Raps next big Superstar.” COME ON NOW…
….IM SOOOOOOOO COOL ON THAT!!

Look, let’s keep it all the way real. This all started 10 years ago with 50 Cent. He’s the Godfather of Remedial Rap. Low on content, high on nonsense. After him, a million other “Young ____” and “Lil ____” have copied his blueprint and now we have a bunch of kindergartners trying to hang with the likes of college grads with regards to beats and lyrics.

I’m from the Hip Hop Generation myself, so I too have watched both R&B and rap go down the tubes over the last decade or so. I feel like most of the videos I see are a joke. How many times can you do a “remake” Craig Mack’s “Flava in Ya Ear” remix video? It’s like they all buy that same template and don’t use the black and white wipe and now it’s “HOT” and “ORIGINAL.” LOL

It’s so simplified now that I can tell you the basic ingredients like I’m about to make an omelet:

1. Sports Car: One to five rented sports cars – artists in front doing the “What They Do” video by the Roots arms

2. Culturally Ambiguous Women: The race or cultural identity of the women is only obivous after many of the two second shots of them. The women can also be in the sports car scene with the artists or dancing entirely to close to each other in another scene separately.

3. Too Many Dudes: A crowd of a bunch of dudes that look like they smell. A black man’s mosh pit, if you will.

4. Ridiculously Fast Editing: Wait did they just…hold up did she just? Yeah, can’t tell because they only show .00015 seconds of a scene before going to something else.

5. Double Speed Music (During the Shoot), Slow Motion Wipe (In the final edit): This gives the illusion that the person’s body is moving slow but their lips are matching the music of the song. WAY TOO OVERUSED NOW…

6. But, Did You Know I Could Sing?: I blame this on Nelly. Everybody thinks they can sing now. It must be cheaper than getting someone who can actually sing to sing the hook…or do you get paid twice? LOL

I could go on for days about this LOL

OMGEEE THIS IS TOO FUNNY AND SO TRUE. CAN’T KNOCK HIS HUSTLE THOUGH. NOW AND DAYS SO MANY MAKE IT ABOUT THE MONEY AND NOT THE MUSIC. SO MANY ARE ENTERTAINERS BECAUSE THEY WANT TO BE A CELEBRITY, NOT SO MUCH FOR THE CRAFT AND LOVE OF WHAT THEY DO.

P.S. ok Nile I have to say ONE more thing that has nothing and everything to do with this post… We all know and agree that your blog is fricken brilliantly dope.. but I went and subscribed to your comments and well and even your subscribers are dope… there is no ghetto ass ridiculousness going on … they range from extremely intellgent articulate observations to basic blasts of laughter and agreement — you got something going on here.. and i think its a really great forum… maybe I am late because I am buried in the pages of my life .. but you should have a talk show round table discussion type – caller you say — type show… because on internet / paper its just ripe for the pickin/producin.

first I can’t stop laughing at nemonade which is only made worse due to my neighbor playing it ridiculously loud. Second I had a problem with Gucci Mane before I even heard one of his songs just looking at him made me angry. he totally seems like a science experiment gone wrong. Some one on twitter even claims that “Gucci Mane went to college he just raps dumb” As for Waka Flocka, Idk wtf that is. Stupidest name I have ever heard.

BRAVO!! I must say that I’ve been under the weather so when my friend forwarded this link to me it brought up my whole day. I’m relatively young (only 22) BUT I feel Blessed to know a time when not only hip hop but all forms of black music were great. I grew up hearing MJ, Luther, 2Pac, Biggie, Outkast, Mos Def, Pattie LaBelle..and this list goes on & on. And these were the popular acts..all had substance & talent beyond just making the next hit. I don’t know how this lull & seemingly brainwashing has taken over our art but as a music lover it is painful to see & hear a lot of this nonsense. Yes Gucci & others may be “making money” but what will this generation of kids have to look to 20-30 yrs from now? This music has no foundation to last beyond the next big thing. Sad thing is there are plenty of new artists out w/ major talent being neglected. Lets hope the tide changes. Great post Nile! We’re cool on that !!!

I totally agree, autotune drives me nuts, they even have talented singers such as usher using it and they wanted to ridicule mili vanilli for false advertisment…WTF do they think this is? I mean change the game for the better, I ain’t trying to go back to singing old negro spirituals and chants fuled by the many garbage rappers.

Remind me, what does the R in Rap stand for????????? Rhythm right? Ok ok, and what does. The P stand for????????? Poetry right???? That’s what I thought.

Now Gucci, can u really call urself a rapper?? I mean really, don’t kid ur self!
Keep gettn yo money, I ain’t mad at cha 4 that but don’t call uself a rapper.FYI : I no u call yourself Gucci mane but there was already a Gucci man back when Gucci was in, u probably should call urself Coach mane or
Louis V mane, just something up 2 date! Alright I’m done! NEXT……..

That top 10 was my exact top ten. If it makes you happy too, I as a 17 yr old who listens to a variety of music would never catch myself close to anything Gucci, Plies and esspecially Wacka Fucka does for the “music industry”. Then on the other hand, I love how the music industry won’t sign intellectual artists who make thoughtful and understandable music, but they have no problem signing the guys who rap or are really mentally disabled…

4 03 2010

Funny but so true at the same time loved it.
We definitely need to mourn the loss of the current state of hip-hop with the artists we have now.

I can’t even pick which is my favourite part – the whole thing had me in hysterics! Nemonaaaade! And he really DOES seem like an ingnorant, illiterate mofo from the days of slavery. Is he trying to bring it back single-handed? I feel dumber just looking at his picture……..

4 03 2010
Swirl P.

Perfectly worded especially the “burnt pork sausage lips” comment.
The question is “Who listens to this crap?” do the 22 year old parents of 8,9 and 10 year olds all just chant and dance to this mess? I mean really!
I have a 5 year old little boy who has never heard of these fools (and God willing) never will. He knows who 112 is, Tony Toni Tone(?), Al Green, Isley Bros, EWF, Keisha Cole, ect.
My point is music, rap, hip hop and r&b died along time ago. There are a few artists trying damn hard to revive it but we have so many youngsters that don’t know what that is, that if our generation doesn’t start supporting the real deal artists- music is dead! Thank God for CDs and iPods ands computers so we have the good shit saved!

Yo! you telling the truth tho. Nile this is so sad but true. Im glad u voiced that it’s not personal but in all actuality IS personal when it is affecting our youth and generations to come. It sickins me that i only caught the tail end of the REAL rap game (i.e. 2-Pac, Biggie, Nas, etc.) becuae i was born in the late 80’s, but i can still see that this New rap generation is pure manure!
LOVE THE TOP 10!!!!!! Spokes man for Slavery!!!!! LMAO!

well i just wanna say that i’m 17 so that makes me apart of young america and i definitely notice that Gucci Mane is a bad rapper . I just tweeted about how good beats can take you but so far (in which i included gucci mane, waka flocka, and soulja boy). I tell my friends everyday that Gucci isnt any good but they never want to believe me. They dont even know what hes rapping about but because (for some reason) hes popular right now, so they say thats hes good. I had a substitute teacher who can rap better than him (as well as the others) ! thats just sad lol . but as for me, i know good music, and i know Gucci Mane is definitely not that .

6 03 2010

Funny as hell. I been telln people 4 a while that what he been doing aint rap.

6 03 2010

I will say that he is not lyrical at all however he has money. No matter how much people continue to talk shit he is still making money, so thats when you should ask yourself why hate? Also I dont recall seeing him in Miskeen… I’m sure alot of ya’ll that have posted comments know the words to his song so at the end of the day HE WON!!!!!!

And as far as Waka, HE has already stated that he wasn’t lyrical he also went on to say that it still gets radio time so he dont care…

6 03 2010

Looooooooooooooordy! This blog hit the nail on the head! Gucci Mane is one of the many “rap artists” (if you can call what they do art) that disgrace real music and true hip hop! At least the rappers from the late 80s and early 90s rapped about something that made sense! And it still sent out a message! Nowadays its more like listening to Gregorian chant! Smh…its a damn shame. These rappers need to get a dictionary, thesaurus, encyclopedia, and anything else that promotes intelligence and make that their new best friends. Words can’t begin to describe how far they’ve set us (as a people, not just the African American) back in the eyes of society. Its no wonder why other countries look at America the way they do! Great article Nile!

This discussion topis is hilarity times a trillion! LMAO! I am not a fan of his…I’ve never bought his music and don’t plan to in the future. The garbage these A&R execs choose to fund and feed the masses this bullshit they call “music” is just tragic. Just the other day I turned on the radio and decided to listen to what’s trending these days. I kid you not Lil Wayne was featured in at least 6 of the top songs. Not only that but the same artist/song is played every 8.2 minutes and I’m like wtf?…..I’ve thrown the towel in a long time ago. I’ll continue to listen to underground shit or hip hop from 2000 and before……last but not least Gucci should take some time out to read a gotdamn book! smh
